The Bloomfield Writing Library provides public space for the neighborhood's intergenerational community and studio space for writers. Research on the site and arts process shows the non-linear nature of both the community’s everyday life and the process of writing. The project seeks to exist within the routine of both user-groups by mirroring this sporadic energy and creating a variety of pleasant atmospheres that suit their respective needs.

SITE & ARTS PROCESS RESEARCH
Before the Writing Library design came separate but simultaneous research processes on the community of Bloomfield and the process of literature and prose as an art form. The change of building materiality throughout Bloomfield reflects changes within the community as a whole. This includes a change in people and types of businesses. The historically Italian-American community is experiencing an influx of young professionals and graduate students. Also, there are various moments throughout the environment which can serve as creative inspiration in the everyday life of people in their commute to the commerce of Liberty Avenue from the surrounding residential areas
The ideal, linear writing process does not truly exist. Every writer has idiosyncrasies and preferences. They also have different needs based on the type of literature they are creating. The process is more unpredictable when considering that writing comes from experience. If something important happens in a writer's life, they may need to return to a previous step of the process in order to incorporate it into their work. This sporadic process occurs at different parts of the built environment and calls for a variety of atmospheres.
